UCC was originally conceived as a backup that would cover the hard cases, but would leave room for market incentives for others who could pay for routine care. So, yes, there is some interest on the right. Does that translate into majority support in the House or Senate? They seem quite content keeping current rent seekers happy and using this as a political football. And considering their support is largely those wealthy who would be paying more, this seems like a nonstarter for them.
